Bazar downs shutters to protest killing

Imphal, March 24 2009: Following closure of shops in Khwairamband Bazar more particularly in Thangal Bazar in protest against the killing of proprietor of Janta Radio, Deepak Gupta, normal business transaction in the main business hub of Imphal remained affected today.

All the shops in the normally busy Allu Galli, MG Avenue and along Khoyathong Road remained deserted.

Deepak Gupta was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at his own shop at Thangal Bazar yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the body of Deepak Gupta has been sent to his native place Gurgaon at Haryana after post-mortem examination at RIMS today.

His family members have also left for Gurgaon today.

On the other hand, the identities of the two suspected KCP cadres who were shot dead by Police Commandos in the follow up action after the killing Deepak Gupta have been established.

They have been identified as Thongam Ibomcha (31) son of Lukhoi of Soibam Leikai Ayangpalli and Md Juma Khan alias Boy (22) son of Anwar Ali of Lilong Bazar.

The body of Juma Khan has been taken by his family members after post-mortem at the mortuary of RIMS molrgue today while no one has come to claim the body of Ibomcha.
