Imphal, May 23 2009: Reports submitted to police about the killing of Satish in an alleged encounter and arrest of Gunindro were fabricated and false, asserted Gunindro who has been released by Court today.

He said Satish and himself were picked up from Sajiwa Jail crossing.

Meanwhile, the Committee on the Killing of L Satish (Tomba) has called 12 hours NH 39 bandh with effect from 5 am tomorrow.

As police failed to produce any evidence to indict Pebam Gunindro as a PLA cadre, Court released Gunindro on bail today after furnishing a surety bond of Rs 10,000 .

This was in contradiction to the police claim that Gunindro was apprehended by a combined team of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 23 AR from Laikot Ching in Imphal East district for being a PLA cadre along with five rounds of AK ammunition and two detonators of grenade on May 19 .

Judicial Magistrate First Class Imphal, after hearing both sides, released Gunindro though an FIR has been registered against him at Lamlai police station.

Talking to media persons today, Gunindro recalled that he and Satish were coming out from Sajiwa Jail after visiting Satish's elder brother Petu alias Karunkanta in the afternoon of May 16 when they were picked up by suspected security personnel from Sajiwa Jail junction of Imphal-Ukhrul road.

The suspected security personnel wore camouflage T-shirts.

One of them said "You are being summoned by our officer.

You should go with us", recalled Gunindro adding that all of them spoke Manipuri.

Once inside the Gypsy, both Satish and Gunindro were blind-folded.

Then they were taken to a hill-top which appeared like an AR post.

There, Satish and Gunindro were kept separately.

Saying that Satish had admitted of being a PLA cadre, the abductors asked Gunindro if he was not an advisor of the PLA.

To this Gunindro said that he was not related to PLA.

He also insisted that Satish was an innocent civilian with a good academic record.

But the abductors went on threatening him saying that "san ashiba manakta leplubagi nangshu awaba nangba tabani (you too should face trouble for keeping bad company)".

Even though Gunindro did not suffer much physical assault, he was threatened with strong words.

The interrogator deliberately allowed Gunindro to overhear the conversation he made with another on phone.

The unknown person at the other end of the telephonic talk directed his abductor to eliminate one of them and to keep the other buried up to waist till the next morning, Gunindro recounted.

In the morning, before he was handed over to Lamlai police station, Gunindro was informed that Satish had been murdered the previous night.

He was also threatened not to divulge anything about the whole episode saying that he should pay with his life in case he exposes the truth.

Gunindro said that the abductors would have spared his life on his assurance not to divulge anything.

However, at the same moment, he was determined to expose everything at the first available opportunity, conveyed Gunindro while seeking people's cooperation in the event of any untoward incident in the future.

The abductors said "the commandos may be suspended by the State but only the Centre can order an enquiry against us.

The same enquiry may drag on for 15 years.

Even after 15 years, we will kill you if you disclose the truth".

They also mentioned the issue of Manorama asking what has come out of the issue.

Though Satish and Gunindro were abducted together, Satish was reported killed in an encounter at Laikot Ching in the night of May 18 while Gunindro was handed over to Lamlai police station by a combined security team of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 23 AR on May 19 .

Infuriated after hearing the story of Gunindro, Meira Paibis of Oinam Thingel stormed at the residence of local MLA Irengbam Hemochandra at Chingamakha.

On his part, the MLA pacified the crowd assuring that he would take up the matter with the Chief Minister soon after his arrival at Imphal tomorrow.

Meanwhile, late Satish's father and former MLA L Sarat asserted that poor people would never get justice from "Ibobi's Court".

Sarat said that Ibobi closed his lips when he proposed for a compromise on an apology from the side of the Government during a meeting between the committee and the Chief Minister on May 20 .

The incoherent and illogical act of killing Satish on the charge of being a PLA cadre after being abducted right after coming out from jail where no weapons could be taken in may turn out the last of such acts, the bereaved father prayed.
