Imphal, February 12: BJP leader and Union MoS for Coal and Mines Reddy Shankar Prasad today said that the BJP is open to the idea of striking up post poll alliances with any other party barring the Congress (I) and the CPI.

Addressing newsmen at Hotel Anand Continental this evening the BJP leader said that BJP will go along with other like minded political parties but ruled out any truck with either the Congress or CPI.

The alliance will be based on mutual trust and respect, he said.

Prasad further said the time has come for all to come together and defeat the divide and rule policy of the Congress (I).

On the controversial Senapati declaration, the BJP leader said the party has no documents to show that any of its candidates had signed the declaration.

He, however, hastened to add that if any of the BJP candidate is found to have signed the pledge then strict action would be initiated for violating the constitution of the BJP.

Prasad also said BJP is firmly wedded to the principles of democracy and added that it is the most democratic party.

On the lack of adequate security for the ensuing polls, Prasad said it should be the responsibility of the ECI and CEO.

To bring about stability and a semblance of governance, Prasad said it is imperative that the electorates exercise their franchise freely and without fear.
