Imphal, February 02: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary PA Sangma today appealed to the people to vote for the party saying NCP is the only party which has not yet been tested by the people.

Speaking during a party election meeting in Singjamei bazar today, Sangma said NCP has been formed not just for contesting election but as a platform to bring about change.

A change for the better would be witnessed if the party is voted to power, he said.

Stating that majority of the political parties including the Congress, MSCP, FPM and Samata Party have already been tested by the people in the State, he said NCP remains one party which has not been tested.

He also recalled that the voice of the people alone made the Centre delete the words "without territorial integrity" from the Bangkok Agreement and the same could be done if the people wanted change.

On the vexed issue of the country's Prime Ministership, the NCP leader questioned how Sonia Gandhi could become the Prime Minister of the country.

"Sonia becoming the Prime Minister of India is akin to myself becoming the Chief Minister of Manipur.

India's Prime Minister should be an Indian and Manipur's CM should be a Manipuri", the NCP leader said.

He further said there are several persons in the country who are more qualified than Sonia to become the Prime Minister.
