Two found shot dead

Imphal, December 28 2009: Two individuals were found shot dead beside a canal at the junction of Heigrujam and Khaidem under Patsoi police station in Imphal West district this morning.

A police source said that the two individuals might have been shot dead last night.

It is also reported that people of the surrounding area heard gun shots at about 11.30 pm yesterday.

The two deceased have been identified as Ngangom Nanao alias England s/o Ibochou of Chingamathak Manipur College Road and Laishram Chalamba alias Jiten (26) s/o Babudhon of Nungoo Maning Leikai.

Both of them had their hands tied behind with plastic ropes.

Their bodies bore numerous bullet marks.

A piece of paper kept on the chest of Chalamba under two spent cartridges said that they were killed for being informers, conveyed the source.

Nanao alias England went out from home together with Chalamba on a Kinetic Honda last afternoon.

Before leaving, Nanao said that he would be bringing back his car which was being repaired in an automobile workshop at Malom in addition to buying charcoal.

He had Rs 20,000 with him when he went out.

Chalamba used to stay at his wife's home at Tonsen Lamkhai.

At other times, he put up in rented rooms at Chingamathak Manipur College Road.

By profession, he was a rickshaw-puller.

But according to voter identity card recovered from his possession, his address was given as Waikhong Khongyam.

Patsoi police have registered a case in connection with the killings.
