Imphal, June 28 2009: Referring to the news report that a UNLF cadre involved in killing migrant workers and carrying cash reward of Rs one lakh has been apprehended, the proscribed UNLF said that the accused was a deserter who has been staying at his home without permission from the party authority since 6/7 months back.

Accusing the UNLF for killing some migrants workers by unidentified armed persons in the early part of the current month, the State Government announced cash rewards for any one who could provide a clue leading to arrest of some UNLF cadres.

Sagolsem Athouba alias Yuremba (MPA No 1951) s/o S Budhi of Wapokpi Chingol Leikai was among the UNLF cadres against whom cash rewards were announced, the outfit reminded in a press release issued by its senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba.

Coupled with the defiance of Athouba alias Yuremba to stay at home without permission from the party, the outfit was least concerned with the magic played by the DGP under command of the Government.

As such, the party did not make any clarification.

Whether Athouba was involved in killing non-local labourers or whether he was working as a cadre of the UNLF/MPA may be ascertained by taking his statements in the presence of media persons.

Only then, people can confirm the authenticity of the alleged drama being enacted by the DGP.

Alleging that announcement of cash reward on the head of a deserter turned civilian and subsequent arrest of the deserter to please the alien rulers is nothing but a fictitious drama directed by the DGP, the outfit said that more such mendacious dramas would follow in future.

In case the DGP falls into the hands of the UNLF/MPA, it would be no difficult task to elicit a statement declaring himself the culprit for killing non-local people.

The outfit asserted that the alleged established tradition of security forces staging fake encounters and levelling false allegations after killing innocent civilians would never succeed in suppressing the liberation movement.
