Five held in Raj Bhavan bomb scare case

Imphal, September 25 2009: In connection with the abortive attempt to trigger an explosion inside Raj Bhavan on September 18, five persons have been pulled up by Imphal West district police.

A press release issued by SSP Imphal West L Kailun identified the apprehended persons as Khumanlambam Jiten alias Tyson alias Taton alias Brojen (35) s/o Kh Shamu of Nongren Mayai Leikai, Chongtham Laingam alias Budhi (36) s/o late Ch Doren of Sagolband Tera Amudon Leirak, Khumanlakpam Naba Singh (54) s/o late Kh Modhu Singh of Nongmeibung, Porompat and Sorokhaibam Sanayaima (44) s/o late Nityai of Salam Mayai Leikai.

All the five individuals have been remanded to police custody for nine days by Judicial Magistrate, 1st Class, Imphal.

Interrogation of the arrested persons is underway to extract relevant information, added the SSP.

Notably four persons have been already arrested in connection with the bomb laden car.

Raj Bhavan security: No vehicle other than those of VIPs would be allowed entry in the Raj Bhavan.

An order issued by the Raj Bhavan Secretariat said that vehicles of security escorts would also be prohibited from entering the Raj Bhavan.

The new initiative was taken up in a revised security arrangement after the proscribed KCP (MC) made an abortive attempt to blow up a car bomb inside the Raj Bhavan parking zone on September 18 .
