Imphal, April 24 2009: Two persons suspected to be activists of banned organisations have been slain by security forces in separate shoot-outs at different places today.

The first incident reportedly took place at Laikoiching area under Lamlai police station of Imphal East district at around 6.15 am during which a combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and troops of 23 Assam Rifles exchanged fire with unidentified armed persons suspected to be members of the proscribed KCP-MC's Lamyanba Khuman group.

While one had been gunned down at the spot the other accomplices managed to escape, said a police source while adding that one 9 mm pistol with three live rounds could be recovered from possession of the slain person whose body has been brought to RIMS morgue.

A driving license also found from the deceased suggest the individual was one Elangbam Kiranjit (22) s/o E Ibohal of Thoubal haokha.

Upon receiving information of Kiranjit's demise locals of Thoubal Haokha protested the killing for a brief period by resorting to road blockade of Imphal-Moreh road at around 5 pm.

The second shoot-out occurred at about 12.30 pm at near Vale Academy with a joint team of Imphal West district police commando and 12 Maratha LI gunning down another UG suspect.

The shoot-out spot is towards the Ningombam road along Tiddim Line and falls within the jurisdiction of Singjamei police station.

Body of the deceased person, from whom the police recovered one 9 mm pistol with two rounds, has also been deposited at RIMS morgue for necessary procedures.

Meanwhile, identity of the person slain in a shoot-out with a combined team of Bishnupur district police commandos and troops of 4/8 Gorkha Rifles at near Sadu Khoiru village under Loktak police station at around 5 pm yesterday has been established today.

The victim was a former PREPAK cadre namely Ningombam Surjit alias Loya (32) s/o N Nupamacha of Wabagai Hiyanglam Mayai Leikai, according to sources.

Surjit reportedly worked for the banned armed outfit for six years after which he was arrested and jailed.

He was staying at his aunty's Moirang Panshang residence.

Surjit's body has been handed over to family members on completion of post mortem at RIMS morgue today.

Identity of one out of two suspected KCP-MC activists shot dead by security forces at Yubraj Palli area along the Khongman-Ucheckon road last night has also been established.

The individual reportedly gunned down in the encounter was one Thounaojam Sunil alias Boyai (19) s/o Th Ishingchaoba of Nungoi Litan makhong.

Family members disclosed to newspersons at RIMS morgue today that Sunil initially joined the PREPAK organisation after which he had been staying at home and worked as a mason.

Family members also identified and claimed the body of the individual who was shot dead by troops of 29 Assam Rifles along the Indo-Myanmar border near boundary Pillar No 84 on April 22 afternoon.

The deceased identified today was one irengbam Ibomcha alias Babuchou (25) s/o Tunanba of Sekmaijin Khoidum Mayai leikai.

The AR had claimed of gunning down two UNLF cadres in the April 22 encounter even though the proscribed outfit denied occurrence of such an incident.

Family members contended that Ibomcha recently returned home after working in a Goa-based private security agency for the last three years.

Some 20 days he left home to partake in a feast hosted by one of his friends.
