Biren takes up inmate's case

Imphal, July 22: Raising a motion during the Zero Hour today, Sekmai A/C MLA N Biren informed that a jail inmate is presently lying in a coma at the JN Hospital after his health deteriorated following refusal by the authorities concerned to grant him bail for medical treatment.

MLA N Biren identified the victim as Yumlembam Surjamani (47) of Awang Sekmai.

The MLA also lamented on the utter negligence of the JN Hospital doctors who told the family members that the patient should be treated by jail doctors and not by them.

Commenting on the killing of a man by some unidentified men this morning at Loitang Khunou, Biren drew the attention of the Chief Minister who is also in-charge of Home with regard to the prevailing unstable law and order condition in the State.

Drawing the attention of the Govt, BD Behring besides questioning the House why the salaries of ten departments could not be withdrawn before the re-imposition of RBI ban, he also asked why the RBI ban had been imposed so quickly.

Commenting on the accommodation of MLAs in the ground floors rooms of Manipur Bhavan New Delhi while DIGS and political functionaries of the are being lodge in the VIP suites, BD Behring questioned the House whether the DIGs and political functionaries were higher in rank than the MLAs.
