Imphal, June 17 2009: In connection with the killing of contractor Krishnadas after being abducted for ransom, police has once again arrested KCP leader Nando, who is currently lodged in the Central Sajiwa Jail as an under trial prisoner (UTP) for his alleged involvement in another similar case of abduction and subsequent killing of Baby Lungnila Elizabeth even after taking the ransom amount.

A resident of Khangabok Part-II Lamlong Keithel in Thoubal District, Thokchom Nando s/o Subol was rearrested from the jail by a team of police led by SDPO of Imphal West Ibomcha at around 4.30 pm after getting the permission of the Court.

The permission to rearrest Th Nando was issued by the Session Judge, Manipur East.

The accused is likely to be produced before the Court tomorrow for further remand in police custody.

It may be noted here that following the interrogation of Seram Ashalata Devi of Tera Sayang Lambi who was earlier arrested and taken into police custody on alleged charge of collecting the negotiated ransom amount of Rs 25 lakhs for securing the safe release of Krishnadas, police had raided Sajiwa Jail in the morning of June 15 .

During the raid, one mobile phone handset and two SIM cards were recovered from the possession of Nando.

Yengkhom Krishnadas of Kakching Sumak Leikai has been abducted by armed persons from his wife's house at Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai on the night of June 10 .

However, his body was found the following morning at Lilong Chingjao although the family members have given Rs 25 lakhs as demanded by the abductors for securing his safe release.

Nando had been arrested by the police in December 2003 in connection with the case of Baby Lungnila Elizabeth.

Since then he has been lodged in Sajiwa Jail.

Then a student of Little Flower School and daughter of former Minister Francis Ngajokpa, 12-year old Baby Lungnila Elizabeth has been abducted from near her school on November 4, 2003 but her decomposed body was found stuffed in a gunny back on November 12 at Tera Sadokpam area.

The abductors had also reportedly taken Rs 10 lakhs from her family members for her safe release.

Police suspected that Nando is behind these two cases of abduction for ransom and subsequent brutal killing even after receiving the negotiated ransom amount.

Meanwhile, attended by thousands of people the Asthi Sanchay ceremony of Krishnadas was performed at her birthplace Kakching today even as a large number of people staged a Wakat Meepham in protest against the killing at Kakching Naohal Lai Lampak.

A statement issued by the JAC informed in connection with the killing has informed that similar protest demonstration would be continue to be staged by the people of Kakching and its surrounding areas turn by turn.

Calling upon the Chief Minister who is also in charge of the Home to understand the pulse of the people and take up necessary measures, the JAC has expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of investigation being conducted.
