Imphal, February 16: In line with the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India that all employees who have been posted at a particular place for more than three years and that no official should be posted at his home district during the 9th Assembly election, the Department of Personnel of the State Government had issued the transfer orders of two officials in December last year.

However since the two officials had not complied with the transfer orders, the ECI has recommended that they may be placed under suspension and the same has been despatched to the Chief Electoral Officer.

The officials in question here are the Chief Executive Officer of Ukhrul District Council, Ningam Chamroi, MCS and a Sub-Registrar officer attached to the Settlement Department at Lamphel, W Chandrakumar, SDC.

According to a well placed source, the DP had in December last year transferred Ningam Chamroi as the ADC/DPO (District Planning Officer) to Chandel, while W Chandrakumar was transferred to Tousem as the SDO in charge.

However since the two said officials had not reported at their place of new postings, the ECI has asked the Chief Electoral Officer to approach the relevant Departments and seek their suspension.

Accordingly the Chief Electoral Officer has conveyed the instructions of the ECI to the Department of Personnel and the Revenue Commissioner, said the source further.

Earlier, the Returning Officer of Senapati had placed 22 officials under suspension for not reporting for election duty.
