Imphal, May 11 2009: Referring to the claim of Assam Rifles inflicting a major blow to UNLF following a shoot-out near international border pillar no 110 in southern Ukhrul as published in media today, the proscribed UNLF has dismissed the claim as a hollow propaganda.

A press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba contended that AR troops were only firing mortar shells indiscriminately passed the international border on mere suspicion that the UNLF/MPA cadres might be present in the area.

They have also been alleging that UNLF/MPA cadres fled into the Myanmarese territory to justify their act of firing mortar shells into the neighbouring country, it asserted.

The handover of Khwairakpam Megha by AR with the claim that he was arrested from Moreh for being a PLA cadre after Megha was pulled up by some commandos from Khagempalli, Imphal on the charge of being a KCP-MC cadre was an act of some sinister elements covering up each others' sinful activities.

"Yet, the UNLF/MPA is glad that there are some commandos who are against the criminal activities of their colleagues", it conveyed.

Asking whether Imphal East SP Radheshyam's clarification that the accused commandos were acting in their own interest would suffice to let the issue pass off.

Further questioning the silence and inaction of the DGP and Chief Minister who is also in charge of Home Department, the outfit asserted that the CM and the DGP should be held responsible for the criminal acts.
