Imphal, January 08: Infuriated local people of Lamshang chased and over powered a gunman and severely thrashed him after he opened fire at the residence of the Congress MLA of Lamshang AC, W Brajabidhu today at about 8 pm.

The grievously wounded gunman has been admitted to RIMS hospital.

The residence of the MLA is located at Lamdeng.

According to police sources the local people chased and over powered the gunman after he opened three rounds of fire at the residence of the MLA and tried to escape.

An M-20 gun was retrieved from the gunman after the locals gave him a sound thrashing.

On hearing reports about the incident a police team rushed to the spot and took the grievously wounded youth to RIMS hospital.

So grievously wounded was the youth that he could not even give his name and address, said police sources.

Police recovered three empty cases from the spot.

There were no damages at the house of the MLA.

In another incident unidentified gunmen opened fire at the residence of the pradhan of Thangalawai Sabal Leikai today at 6 pm.

The pradhan is named as O Kumar.
