Lamka, October 03 2009: Barely five days after several organisations took out a protest rally against a purported threat from the KNA in Chandel district, the Kuki National Organisation (KNO), the armed outfit's parent body today said it would treat the matter very seriously if organizations concerned could provide evidence.

Reiterating the KNO/KNA's unstinted commitment to serve the cause of the Kuki people, a statement issued by T Stephen Kuki, under secretary Publicity & Information today said, in reminding the Kukis, that it was the KNO/KNA that emancipated the land from the stranglehold of the NSCN-IM in the 1990s.It is incredible that KWA and KWHR should object to KNO's designated camp being set-up in Chandel district, given this recent history, said the statement and added that two leaders of the respective organisations had confessed to Thangboi, Commander KNA Wing 5, that the UKLF had instigated them to do so.

It is also extremely odd that there was no demonstration by KWA, KWHR, KCA (Chandel Dist) and the TSA when the UKLF warned Kuki chiefs, seized their land ownership rights, killed innocent civilians, warned leaders of Hill Tribe Council, the Kuki Inpi and KSO, it said.

Accusing the UKLF of being an ardent proponent of Thadou, which according to the KNO is a bane to the Kuki community, the statement contended it is understandable that Thadou Students' Association should figure in the rally against KNA.

The break-up of the Kukis is a direct result of Thadou chauvinism as it had already driven away several 'old Kukis' to adapt Naga as their political identity.

While in contrast to the Thadou proponents, other student bodies such as Haokip Students Organisation abandoned clan-based organisation in favour of community based KSO, claimed the KNO.

The organisation even went on to the extent of suggesting that, 'perhaps, their organization should be renamed as United Thadou Liberation Front.

And, further urged every sensible organization to resist and refrain from being utilized by UKLF in their design to disintegrate the Kuki society and people.

KNO's statement also alleged UKLF of imposing fines to the tune of Rs 200 and Rs 100 against any ordinary Kuki men and women who did not take part in the rally.
