Imphal, September 30 2009: Unidentified armed persons shot dead yet another bus driver at Lilong in Thoubal district.

Along with formation of a JAC in protest against the killing, a bandh has been called along the Imphal-Ukhrul road with effect from 6 am to 6 pm October 2 .

Police report said that the bullet riddled body was found lying at a spot in between Lilong Chingjao and Nungei at around 4 am today by the people of the area who informed the police.

The same was retrieved and later deposited at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.

According to information received by the press, victim was an Inter-State bus driver identified as Konsam Premkumar alias Sanajaoba Singh (34) s/o Shanti of Khurai Konsam Leikai Ipum Mapal.

Police have recovered four empty cases of 7.65 MM ammunition and elector's I-card and driving licence from the possession of Sanajaoba who bore fatal bullet marks on his head.

Sanajaoba had reportedly gone out from home last evening and on the way he met his sister Khoibi (30) in front of a local pan dukan.

Talking to mediapersons in this connection, Khoibi informed that at the meeting her brother gave her three mobile phone numbers saying to contact these numbers in case he failed to return home.

The same numbers were also saved on her mobile phone handset saying that the numbers belong to some Muslims.

When the numbers were contacted this morning, one of numbers was found on switch off mode, no one picked up on another number while in the third number it was responded as wrong number.

The mobile phone that Sanajaoba had carried was also on switch off mode.

While the worried family members were not knowing what to do, a team of Imphal East Police Commandos on motorbikes came to the house to inform the family members about the death of Sanajaoba and asked them to come for identification of the body at RIMS morgue.

It is said that Sanajaoba has been staying at home recuperating from fracturing his collar bone in an accident about one year back.

Sanajaoba left behind his wife, one son and one daughter.

The family members have not yet claimed the body.

Meanwhile, Lilong Police Station has registered a case and investigation in the incident started.
