Imphal, December 06 2008: TWO BOMBS including one at the house of an engineer at Kheikhu Awang Leikai have been disposed by the state police in separate places today.

Meanwhile, villagers of Lairenkabi today staged a sit-in protest decrying the placing of bomb at the house of one Chongtham Jayentakumar of the village on December 1 last.

Today, morning a bomb was found deposited at the varenda of the house of the engineer Md Aziz Khan at Kheikhu Awang Leikai under Porompat police station.

A team of the Imphal east police commandos took away the bomb which police suspected to be placed in connection with monetary demand to the engineer at around 7.30 am.

It can be recalled that suspected militants had many times deposited to the house of the engineer in the pass also.

Another bomb was also discovered by NREGS workers at Yairipok Khoirom Leikai under Yairipok police station today at around 12.45 pm.

Reports said that the bomb was first detected by the villagers clearing a canal under the NREGS work programme of the Leirongthel Ningel Gram Panchayat.

The same was destroyed later at the same spot, the report added.
