Imphal, May 27 2009: Police in Moirang in Bishnupur district foiled a protest rally of the students to register protest against the rounding up of volunteers of DESAM including its education affairs secretary by the police in connection with the killing of the professor Md Islamuddin.

Students of Advance Public School, Thoibi Quality English School, St Xavier School and Moirang Girls High School took part in the rally which kicked off from Moirang Bazar.

But it was banned from carrying out further by the Moirang police led by its OC at Moirang Lamkhai.

The police banned the rally stating that no rally could be carry out there without the prior permission of the DC.

They rally suspended without proceeding further.
