Imphal, January 21 2009: POROMPAT police have taken into custody two personnel including an IRB and a former militant surrendered and later absorbed as police commando in connection with the taken away of weapon after killing a sentry named Sikander in Imphal east district police headquarter on the intervening night of January 14 and 15 .

They have been produced before the JCM yesterday and remanded to the police custody for nine days for interrogation, an official source said today.

Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee Against Brutal Murder of Md Sikander Ali, 1st IRB Rifleman at Imphal East District, CDO Office has submitted a memorandum to the state government demanding punishment to the culprit(s), compensate his family with Rs 5 lakhs as ex-gratia, pay salary, he get during his life time to his family until the superannuation and provide a suitable government job to one of his family members.

The state CM himself had convinced to fulfill the demands of the JAC.

But the state government's overlooking on the matter has made the JAC doubtful for internal hand in the incident, said president of the JAC.

The JAC demanded the state government to fulfill its demand by January 24 next.

If the state government still overlook the incident and do not act accordingly by the deadline, the JAC alongwith the people will boycott the Rerpublic Day Celebration and further intensified actions will be taken.

The JAC also demanded a clearance from KCP (MC) as a statement from the Imphal East District Police Headquarter stated that there might be hand of KCP (MC) behind the killing.

The United Clubs Organisation (UCO) Golapati Hatta, Minuthong Mayai Leikai Development Organisation, Imphal, Kwakta Charangpat Eleven Star Club, Kwakta Charangpat, Kwakta Maronglou Sevla Nupi Lup, Kwakta Maronglou Sevla, Jamiat-Ulama Kwakta, Bishnupur and Panchayat Youth Development Association also condemned the incident and demanded the state government to pounish the culprit behind the murder.
