Imphal, April 11 2009: Sudden rain with hail this evening help police in dispersing a protest rally organized by a JAC formed against the killing of three youths hailing from Karong by the Thoubal plice commandos at Ikop pat on April 9 last.

Residents of Karong and its surrounding in Imphal west today planned to carry out a protest rally decrying the killing of three youths hailing from Karong, Netrajit, Brajamohon and Sanajoaba by the Thoubal police commandos after a public meeting resolved to submit a memorandum to the state Governor.

The meeting organized by the JAC at Karong Young Union Club ground was attended by people of Luker, Salam, Leitong, Hoarang Keiren, Haorang Khunou, Maklang, Kachikhul, Sangaithel, Thuijang, Tairenpokpi and Sairemkhul etc.

Representatives of various civil organizations like AMUCO, MAPI Council, HRI, MAFYF, COHR, Poirei Leimarol also took part in the rally.

It resolved to press the government to fulfill the demands put down by the JAC with regard to the murder of the three youths who the villagers claimed innocent earning livelihood with working as meson.

At the concluding part of the meeting, people decided to carry out a rally and submit memorandum to the Governor containing the demands of the JAC in which police attempted to foil it.

Police in a bid to foil the rally fired some rounds of guns in the air.

But, while protestors are struggling with the police, raining with hail started all of a sudden.

Hence, police without much effort foiled the rally.
