Imphal, December 04, 2008: Troops of Assam Rifles killed a man said to be commander of the Komrem People Revolutionary Army (KPRA) in what police report said in an encounter that occurred tonight at around 7.45 pm. Report said that the incident occurred near a forest beat office located on the side of the Ngariyan road under Yairipok police station.

A contradict report, in the meantime said that troops of 32 Assam Rifles posting at Andro killed the man at Thayong village under Lamlai police station at around 6.30 pm and carried away in their vehicle.

The slain man is believed to be one Wangthoi, commander of the KPRA hailing from Moirang side.

However, till the time of filing this report there were no reports of handing over the dead bodies to the police.
