Imphal, December 22 2008: UNKNOWN GUNMEN shot dead a teacher this evening at around 5.30 pm at Samurou Noarem Chaprou under Wangoi police station.

Locals as well as police reports said that the 47-year old teacher named Moirangthem Ibocha of Samurou Awang Leikai succumbed to bullet injuries at the RIMS hospital at around 6.20 pm.

He was the second master and posting at Hoareibi High School.

According to the family, Ibocha left home with a scooter (Kinetic Honda, MN-01M-8708) this evening after he was called over phone to pick up her wife from Samurou Norem.

He received a bullet at the back side and exited on the front side.

Locals who found him lying on the roadside evacuated him at RIMS immediately in a Jeep.

The family while clarifying that none of the underground organization served demand on him said that he may have been shot at for refusing to give the scooter he was with when the gunmen demanded.

Wangoi police has registered a case and deposited the dead body at RIMS morgue for official procedure, reports said.
