Lilong public meeting demands booking of culprits

Imphal, June 30 2009: A public meeting held at Lilong Bazar today in connection with the killing of Md Majibur Rehman in a quarrel arising out of a matter of thieving of a battery has re-affirmed to continue protest against the killing till culprits behind the murder incident.

Mujibur died in a quarrel erupted from a matter of stealing a canter battery on June 24 .

The public meeting was organized by the JAC formed in connection with the dead of Majibur Rehaman.

Representatives of several organizations like the Lilong Council, UTHACO, Lilong Arapti, Arapti Meira Paibi, Iputhou Pureiromba Welfare Association, Arapti, Lilong Chaopok Ideal Club, PLAITO, Lilong and Youth Voluntary Organisation, Lilong Turel Ahanbi etc.

Among other, the meeting resolved to continue protest with various forms till police nab the culprits behind the murder of Mujibur and punish as per law of the land while condemning that police instead of picking up those persons involved in the murder case chasing after family members of the deceased.

Stating that if police nab Khambi who involved in various crimes in time, such incident of dead of men might not occurred and alleging that it has been caused by unworthy of the OC, Lilong police station, the meeting also resolved to press the chief minister to transfer the officer and replace by another worthy officer.

Reiterating that Ayub Khan alias Khambi died in the assault by a mob.

In the mob, any of the members of the deceased Majibur were among them.

Khamba who has bad record in earlier cases died due to over beating, it also asked all concerns not to give any harassment to the family of Mujibur.

To ban selling intoxicant items and other narcotic items at Lilong area and alleging police personnel in the Lilong police station are not acted as per wish of the people, the meeting also decided to launch agitations against the police.
