Wolfgang still in captivity, Centre quiz State Govt

Imphal, March 27: Abducted German national Heinrich Wolfgang is yet to be released and continues to be in captivity till today as 'negotiations' which went late into the evening today with his abductors reportedly failed to break the deadlock.

Meanwhile sources said that the Centre has given strict instructions to the State Home Department to rescue the abducted foreigner.

The Centre has also reportedly quizzed the State Government over the abduction case.

The Manipur Peoples' Liberation Front, an umbrella organization of the RPF, PREPAK and UNLF has appealed to the group responsible for abducting German national, Heinrich Wolfgang to release him without any harm.

In a statement, MPLF said foreigners should be welcomed and not abducted, as long as they do not work against the revolutionary movements.

The Ministry of Home and Finance of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland, Manipur sector has asked the persons/ groups involved in the abduction of Heinrich Wolfgang to immediately and unconditionally release him.

In a statement, NSCN said, "such act of terror will give a bad image to the revolutionary movement of Manipur in particular and North East in general." All Manipur United Clubs' Organization and Kuki Inpi Manipur have also strongly condemned the abduction of Heinrich Wolfgang.

In a joint statement, the two organizations appealed to the concerned to immediately release Wolfgang without any conditions in the interest of the people of Manipur.

Condemnations at the abduction of the German national Wolfgang Heinrich and appeals for his safe and unconditional release at the earliest continue to flood in from various quarters.

Strongly condemning the abduction by Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) cadres, much organization termed it as not only violation of human rights but attempts to curtail the development activities of Manipur.

The act would only substantiate wrong perception of outsiders that the State is unfavorable for tourism, in presently undergoing mayhem and a place where were gun/muscle power snuffs the right of welfare oriented citizens.

Appealing for his safe release, the organizations contended that prolonging the release would aggravate the situation and depict State people as supporters of terrorism.

The organizations appealing for Wolfgang's release include United Committee Manipur, United Nations Association, Manipur, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur, All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organization, All Manipur Students' Union, Thoubal District Network Committee-UNMM, Reach-M, Chanura Lapichmglel Kangleipak, Haorang Keirel Lainingthou Leima Development Association and 10 other organizations of the area.
