Imphal, October 21 2009: The proscribed RPF has alleged that two PLA cadres were slain when members of the NSCN (IM) attacked a group of PLA cadres at Bahoram Tangkhul village on October 19 at around 1.50 pm. According to RPF's chief of Department of Publicity, GM Changjou, L/Cpl Yengkhom Bungocha alias Sanayai s/o (L) Y Manithoiba Meitei of Awang Leikinthabi and Pte Laishram John alias Chingkheinganba s/o (L) L thoiba of Mayang Imphal Samushang Shantipur were killed in the NSCN (IM) attack.

Conveying solidarity to the aggrieved family members, Changjou called upon the NSCN (IM) leaderships to refrain from any activity that could derail movement of the indigenous peoples of the region.

Pondering whether the NSCN (IM) is being controlled by the Government of India, since signing the peace accord, to spark fratricidal conflict with the intention of projecting the armed movement in the wrong light, Changjou said the Central Government utilising the NSCN (IM) organisation to further its divide and rule policy cannot be ruled out.

substantiating on the contention, he said inspite of repeated denials that there are no designated camps of the NSCN (IM) in manipur, recent incidents had exposed existence of such locations at Bunning (Tamenglong), Oklong (Senapati), Phungchong (chandel) and Siroy (Ukhrul).

Asking NSCN (IM) leaderships to review its attitude in order to promote peaceful co-existence, the RPF statement cautioned failure to heed the call would compel the RPF/PLA to change its policy towards the Naga rebel outfit.

While describing as unacceptable and unwarranted ignorance of the Government of Manipur on the incursion by personnel of the Nagaland Armed Police at Jessami area, Changjou opined that divisive policy of the Central Government had emboldened Government of Nagaland to encroach upon the neighbouring State of Manipur.

The incident is yet another manifestation of the Centre's policy to create fissures in the NE region to subdue genuine outcry of the people of the region against discriminatory policy of the Govt of India.
