Imphal, June 21 2009: With the JAC constituted against the killing of Yengkhom Krishnadas and the State Government unable to strike any agreement, the JAC and the Government are virtually caught in a deadlock.

Although the second round of talk held between JAC members and Chief Minister O Ibobi failed to arrive at any understanding, Ibobi claimed that investigation into the murder has been progressing.

On the other hand, the JAC maintained that their demands have not been fulfilled.

One JAC member said that the next of course of action would be decided during a public meeting tomorrow.

MLA Yengkhom Surachandra, the Imphal West SSP and the Additional SP were also present at the meeting.

Seram Ashalata, reportedly involved in taking ransom and Th Nando of KCP, the prime suspect in the murder case have been already taken into police custody.

Significantly, the indefinite strike called by the JAC against the killing of Krishnadas was suspended from June 15 for seven days following an assurance from the Chief Minister.

Yet, the JAC set an ultimatum for the Government to book and punish the culprits within a week.

Incidentally, the ultimatum expired today.
