Imphal, October 20 2008: Though the State Police Department is yet to make any major break through on how the bomb attack was launched near the residence of the Chief Minister last night at 7.55 it has nonetheless taken up certain measures, such as deploying more police commandos around the Chief Minister's bungalow, besides beefing up security all over.

The Cobra Task Force of the proscribed PREPAK had last night itself claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier in the day today at 9 am, Chief Minister O Ibobi convened a meeting with the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Home) DS Poonia, DGP and the SPs of Imphal East and West for a detailed review meeting of the security scenario.

The meeting discussed in details on how to more effectively deal with such instances in the future, said a source.

Senior Superintendent of Police of Imphal West, L Kailun informed that apart from deploying more police commandos around the CM's residence, intelligence network has been enhanced and security beefed up in Imphal.

All steps have been taken up to prevent recurrence of such attack, said the SSP.

The police have not picked up anyone in connection with the attack, but the two business men, whose car passed by just when the bomb exploded have been examined, said the senior police officer.

Emphasising on the need for more state of the art technology to face the onslaught of rebel outfits, Kailun said that more Unmanned Airborne Vehicles (UAVs) and more Close Circuit Television Cameras need to be installed.

The bomb attack last night was the second such instance at the residence of the Chief Minister in recent time.

On September 1 this year, the same outfit had launched a lethod bomb attack at the residence of the Chief Minister.

O Ibobi who attended a function at Mapal Kangjeibung today to distribute farm machineries to the farmers, did not take any questions regarding last night's bomb blast.
