Imphal, April 16 2009: Of the nine UG cadres slain in the course of the ongoing Operation Summer Storm in the surrounding areas of Loktak Lake, identities of seven have been established.

All of them were cadres of PREPAK.

The slain UG cadres include Haorungbam Surchandra alias Tatombi (24) s/o Mangi of Loushangkhong Mayai Leikai, Kakchingtabam Bidyananda alias Santosh (21) s/o Gopeshwar of Singjamei Waikhom Leikai, Sapam Dineshchandra alias Ibomcha (29) s/o Brojendro of Wabagai Maning Leikai, Naorem Ronald (31) s/o Nimai of Phougakchao Ikhai, Naorem Boycha alias Kevin (14) s/o Achou of Sekmaijin Khoidum.

Above these five UG cadres, corpse of Sergeant Major Yumnam Suraj of Sagolband slain at Khordak in the night of April 13 and the corpse of Maisnam Arun of Chairen killed in another encounter in the wee hours of April 12 at Ungamen Pat have been already identified and claimed by family members.

Although, the army have claimed to have killed eleven UG cadres, only nine corpses have been recovered so far.

Among the identified slain UG cadres, Naorem Boycha of Sekmaijin Khoidum was the one who was killed together with Sgt Maj Suraj.

Surchandra and Bidyananda were those killed at Keibul Chingmei on April 14 .

Sapam Dineshchandra and Naorem Ronald were killed by troops of 7 AR in the morning of April 13 at Khordak.

Two other individuals killed in the gun-fights at Keibul Chingmei and Khordak still remain unidentified.

Corpses of the five identified UG cadres have been claimed by their family members after completion of post mortem examination at RIMS today.
