Imphal, November 05 2009: Referring to the clarification made by Imphal West SSP L Kailun which dubbed the media report about the firing incident at Babupara on November 3 as factually incorrect, the proscribed UNLF has rubbished the SSP's clarification as well as the adjoining claim of the arrest of one Khumbongmayum Gojendro of Sagolband Tera for involvement in the firing incident.

A press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba clarified that the man reportedly involved in the incident and arrested by police was not related to UNLF/MPA in any manner.

By refuting the media report, the SSP was trying to cover up the awkward nature of police commandos, the outfit alleged.

Saying that people are well aware about behaviour of police commandos and IRB personnel, the outfit alleged that firing incident of November 3 ensued when some confrontations erupted among police commandos clad in civil dress who were coming to extort money in the name of an insurgent outfit.

The SSP's statement cannot cover up the behaviour of commandos nor succeed in befooling the people every time, it added.
