Imphal, March 04 2009: Living up to the name of what humanity is all about a number of individuals, including the Governor of the State Gurbachan Jagat have pitched in to help the migrant workers who are now taking shelter at the relief/safe house camp opened at Dharamshala following the dastardly killing of three migrant workers, including a barber, a sugar cane juice seller and a porter in the last few days.

Speaking to The Sangai Express, Chairman of the Imphal Bazar Board, Amrik Singh Pahwa said that the Governor donated Rs 20,000 to the relief camp.

MoBC Minister Md Allauddin also donated Rs 5000 for the migrant workers holed up in the relief camp, said Pahwa, while thanking them all.

Police Commando Officer-in-charge of Imphal West KT Singh also donated Rs 3000 while the proprietor of KBS brick field Shitaljit Singh chipped in with Rs 1000, informed Amrik Singh Pahwa.

Others who donated to the relief camp included, W Shantikumar (Rs 200) S Patni (Rs 1000), Anil Kasriwal (Rs 1000). Other than this Gurwinder Singh has been providing one water tanker each everyday for the migrant workers taking shelter at the relief camp.

Eight more migrant workers have arrived at the relief camp taking the total number of 149, said Amrik Singh Pahwa.

Veteran Mr Molecule has also promised to provide a free ambulance in case of any emergency cases, said the Chairman of the Bazar Board.

Acknowledging all the positive responses from the people, Pahwa on behalf of everyone expressed his gratitude to the Yaima, information secretary of the UCM, who offered to extend his help.

The Bazar Board has also appealed to all the people to condemn the killings of unarmed, poor migrant workers.

Meanwhile the body of the sugar cane juice seller, Rajkumar Choudhury (18) was laid to rest today after post mortem at RIMS morgue.

Taking the tense situation under consideration, Pahwa managed to convince the family members not to take the body back to Bihar but to cremate it here.

The killings of the migrant workers have drawn widespread condemnations.
