Injured hotel boy struggling for life

Imphal, January 29 2010: A hotel boy, hit on the chest by a bullet fired by a police commando personnel on Wednesday, is struggling for life under serious condition at RIMS Hospital, Imphal.

The shooting which police described as "accidentally firing" took place inside the OK Hotel, MG Avenue, Thangal Bazar in the morning of last Wednesday.

Official source today said, Imphal City Police has taken up a suo-motu case (FIR no (1) 2010 under section 326 of IPC and 27-A Act of city police) with regard to the shooting incident which occurred at about 9.20 am on receipt of the reliable information.

As per the registered case, a personnel of the Imphal West police commandos posting at Bazar unit deployed in between Nirmala Hotel and Chamber of Commerce Hospital fired one round of gun from his service weapon (Carbine Machine Gun) at OK Hotel, MG Avenue.

In the case filed, the name of the commando personnel as well as that of hotel boy is not mentioned.

It states that the bullet hit a hotel boy of the OK Hotel in the "accidental" firing.

As a result, the boy received bullet injury on his person and was evacuated to Hospital for medical treatment.

The victim hotel boy has been identified as one Thoh Mao (23) son of late Welsii of Liai village of Senapati district.

He is currently being treated at the ortho ward of the RIMS Hospital, Imphal.

The bullet hit his chest exited on the other side and his condition is stated to be serious but stable.
