Imphal, August 10 2009: The Nagaram and Tangkhul Avenue authorities and the deputy director of tribal development Solomon Chinkhai himself today strongly protested against the bomb blast incident at his private residence located at Nagaram, Imphal where heavy deployment witnessed in the wake of people agitations and night curfew.

The deputy director, Solomon Chinkhai said so far none of the underground groups owned up the bomb attack but there was an instant of receiving a demand letter from the Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) signed by its information secretary to his family in the month of May this year expressing the group behind the attack.

The group demanded payment of 3 percent of the development funds allocated for Ukhrul district under the tribal development department like family benefit scheme, housing, industries, inter-village road development and for community health improvement etc.

The also demanded same percent from the construction of angwadi centres in Ukhrul district which is not related with the department he is serving.

As most of the schemes implementing by the department were central sponsor and beneficiaries of the schemes were selected by a committee chair by the circle MLAs, he has no power to siphon off the funds.

In an interaction with at the house of the deputy director, chairmen of the Nagaram village authority Ramkatin Horam and Tangkhul KS Shimreisang also expressed strong condemnation to the act of blasting bomb in the house of the officer located in the thickly populated area and for causing panic and fear to the locals.

It is not good to attack to an officer's house for a matter related with department and it will not be a right step to attempt life of the officer.

They also appealed all concerns not to repeat such acts in future.

In the blast his 23 year old daughter, Theireiphi Apigel and his private driver Reishangmi (19) son of AS Samson of Chingjaroi village of Ukhrul district currently residing at the house of the director sustained splinters injuries.
