Imphal, February 26 2009: Local Congress offices in Thoubal and Nambol have been under attacks with bombs tonight by suspected militants.

One of the bombs at Thoubal exploded while other failed to explode.

The Thoubal district block Congress office located 1.5 km away on south of the Thoubal police station was under attack with bombs tonight at around 7 pm, official reports said.

Suspected militants hurled two bombs in the office, of which one was exploded some 10 feet away from the veranda of the office while the other failed to explode.

None was in the office complex when the bomb went off.

The house where the chawkidar of the office named Sanasam Chandramani live with his only grant daughter was also not in the house at the time of blast.

The unexploded bomb was later retrieved from the spot by the police and disposed at an open place at the foothill at Thoubal Khunou at around 8.35 pm.

Two more bombs were also hurled at the Congress office at Nambol located next to the Nambol police station this evening at around 5.30 pm.

The bombs did not exploded and Nambol police defused and taken into their custody, the report added.
