Imphal, September 24 2009: The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has refuted the claim of the SP of Thoubal district which maintained that two suspected UGs have been killed in an encounter at a place between Khoidum Pat and Sekmaijin Khunou on September 22 and recovered two arms from them.

Terming the police statement as baseless and fabricated, a statement issued by Aheiba Angom, secretary in-charge of the department of publicity and propaganda of PREPAK asserted that two of its cadres 'Lance corporal' Bir and Lukhoi were slain by a team of police commandos after their arrest.

It stated that two 9mm pistols and M20 pistol were with them at the time of their death but the SP has maintained that only two pistols were recovered from them.

It observed that it is well known fact that if the trend of killings unleashed by the Manipur Police Commandos continues, the tag 'land of jewel' will be turned into 'land of widow'.

Meanwhile, the PREPAK and its Red Army have also offered revolutionary salute to the late 'Lance corporal' Samurailatpam Tombi alias Lukhoi Sharma (25), son of S Khongnem and Huirem Imu alias Bir (33), son of Tomba of Sekmaijin Khunou Litan Mathak.

The outfit also shared the grief of the bereaved families.
