Imphal, November 23, 2009: Combined team of Thoubal district police commandos and 34 AR personnel claimed to have killed an underground suspect yesterday around 5.10pm in Pechi area.

According to a statement issued by the Additional SP of Thoubal district, Jogeshchandra Haobijam, the team of the Thoubal police commandos and 34Ar personnel conducted frisking in Pechi village area after receiving specific information about the presence of KCP (City Meitei) cadres.

The combined team came under attack from Pechi village hillock.

The suspected UG was killed in a retaliatory firing.

One AK rifle, one magazine and 15 live rounds of AK were recovered from the incident, it stated.

Meanwhile, troops of 12 MLI of 9 Sector under IGAR (S) apprehended a KYKL cadre identified as No 2051 SS L/Cpl Nameirakpam Thoithoi (31) while conducting an operation in Nambol Khajiri area of Imphal West, according to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S).
