Two hurt in bomb blast

Imphal, October 23 2009: At least two persons sustained splinters injuries when a bomb hurled by miscreants exploded at the house of retired government officer this evening at about 6 pm at Keishamthong Thokchom Leikai under Imphal police station.

Miscreants lobbed the bomb at the house of former survey officer of the settlement department Thokchom Budhachandra (75) at Keishampat Thokchom Leikai.

Two persons sustained injuries by the impact of the explosion.

They were identified as Thokchom Gourashyam (35), younger brother of headman of the house Budhachandra and Takhelchangbam Sunil (25) son of Naran, a neighbourhood.

Gourachandra received splinters injury at the belly while Sunil at the right ear.

They were hospitalized.

Two Yamaha motorcycle borne unknown youths hurled the bomb from outside the gate of the house.

The bomb exploded at the courtyard of the house, said the family members.

Disclosing the no demand was served to the house before by any underground, the family members ruled out the attack link with monetary demand.

But they could not say the motive behind the attack.
