Imphal, May 14 2009: At least two men sustained splinter injuries while disposing an IED weighting around 5 kg found on the side of a CD Parlour located near the Nurse Hostel no.1, Lamphel Sana Keithel today.

Another bomb, a hand grenade was also found lying at the house Kharibam Shyamchandra of Thongju Boroi Makhong, executive engineer of the MU Engineering Cell this morning at around 6.40 am.

The 5 kg weight IED at Lamphel Sanakeithel was discovered by locals clearing the drainage on the road side today at around 10.30 am.

The bomb was disposed at the same place by the personnel of the police bomb squad.

By the impact of the bomb while disposing brick wall nearby was severely damaged apart from injuring to two brick labours who were working at some distance away from the spot of explosion.

Injured men were identified as Thounaojam Amo (30) son of Th Apabi of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai and Naorem Singhajit (14) son of rameshwor of Lilong Arapti.

They have been hospitalized at RIMS hospital.

The hand grenade at the house of the EE of the MU engineering cell was discovered this morning at around 6.30 am.

Imphal west police commandos collected the same later.

Mention may be made that recently also a bomb had exploded at the house of engineer injuring him along with another local man.
