Imphal, June 12 2009: The JAC against the brutal killing of Md Islamuddin, Professor and Proctor at Manipur University campus on May 25 threatened the state government to call for a 48-hour general strike from 4 am of June 22 till 4 am of June 24 if the state government fails to hand over the case to CBI in order to find out the facts about the incident and who else from the University authorities are involved in the killing.

Enquiring the perspective of the state government towards the issue, a press release of the JAC issued by its Secretary, Information and Publicity, Md Anwwar claimed that the government has not yet handed over the case of the killing of Professor Md Islamuddin to the CBI despite the government and the JAC had arrived into an agreement to hand over the same to CBI in order to find out the facts regarding the issue and who else from the University are involved in the incident.

The statement also expressed serious concern over the state government for not booking the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor C Amuba and the Registrar of the University in connection with the killing and also stated that the VC should quit from his post on moral ground.

The JAC appealed all the NGOs and civil organizations to support the JAC in their movement.
