Imphal, January 06 2010: One migrant worker was found shot dead by unidentified armed persons at Singjamei Wangma Bheigyabati Leikai under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East District at around 6 pm today.

According to police, the victim has been identified as Shyamal Arya (27) of Dhaldabi village ion Cooch Behar district, West Bengal but staying in a rented room at Singjamei Wangma Bheigyabati Leikai.

He was shot dead at a spot just opposite to Mata Cinema, Singjamei and he died on the spot.

There was a fatal bullet mark on his head.

According to information received by the press, Shyamal was planning to go back to his native place tomorrow.

He was shot dead while returning from work.

Shyamlal normally worked in bakery or hotels.

Meanwhile, police have picked up the body and kept at the mortuary of RIMS.

Porompat police have registered a case in connection with the killing.
