Imphal, January 28 2009: A passenger jeep plying from Imphal to Luker under the Siroy Transport Corporation was set ablaze after hijacking at Lamdeng Khunou located some two kilomer away toward south from Lamshang police station.

According to the owner of the vehicle, Abujam Chaosingh of Salam Keikhu his vehicle (MN 1A 6882) was hijacked by three unknown persons when he was moving with passenger picked up from Luker toward Imphal at Haorang Thongkhong.

After the passengers were allowed to step down from the vehicle, the unknown person asked him why he does not do what they said and drove away the vehicle toward Haorang keirang.

After then it was set fire at Lamdeng Khunou near the foot hill after around half an hour.

The vehicle is believed to have been set ablaze in connection with monetary demand to the Siroy Transport Corporation.
