Imphal, October 23 2009: A bullet-riddled dead body of a PLA cadre suspected to have been injured in the ambush laid on a group of PLA cadres by cadres of NSCN (IM) on October 19 last was recovered at a place near Tangkhul Hundung Lamkhai, about 50 km northwest of Litan Police Station of Ukhrul today.

Mention may be made that two cadres of PLA were killed in an ambush laid by the cadres of NSCN(IM) at Nungshit Haibee village near Chandrakhong Mathak under Yairipok Police Station in Thoubal district bordering Ukhrul district on the night of October 19 last.

If the dead body retrieved by the police today was related with the ambush, the death toll in the incident would rise to three.

The identity of the slain cadre has been established as Khundongbam Chetan @ Ngongoba @ Langamba (22), son of Kh Inao of Maibam Leikai Liwa Lambi, Imphal.

Family source said that he had joined the outfit two years back.

They came to know about the death of Chetan only after the party informed, the family source said.

Police received the information that a dead body was lying yesterday evening, but retrieved only this morning as the place is located at a remote area far from the police station.

The body with bullet injury marks on the head and left leg was brought to RIMS morgue this afternoon, and after postmortem the body was handed over to the family.

Meanwhile, the identity of the suspected underground killed by the combined force of Thoubal police commandos and troops of Assam Rifles on the night of October 20 last established today.

The slain suspect was identified as Shougrakpam Johnson (23), son of S Noren of Hiyanglam Lai Pangalba Mamang.

Family has taken the dead body after postmortem at RIMS morgue today.
