Imphal, June 22 2009: Against the backdrop of killing of non-Manipuri/migrant labourers in the district by armed miscreants, the state police have appealed the migrant/non-Manipuri labourers of the state to stay and work within the Municipality/Imphal Bazar areas.

A statement issued by SSP of Imphal West district, L Kailun late tonight appealed the non-local labourers to stay and work within Imphal Bazar/Municipality areas in the light of the killings unleashed by gunmen.

"They (migrant labourers) are also requested not to venture out in the far-flung and interior areas to avoid any untoward incident," the statement informed.

It further requested the general public to inform the district police about the presence of migrant workers in their houses/areas so that collective security can be provided.

It also informed to contact the police through telephone numbers of SSP/IW-2450159, Control Room-2450214, Imphal PS-2450002, and City PS-2458515 .
