Bomb explodes near RIMS, none hurt

Imphal, May 16 2009: Out of three bombs hurled by suspected militants at different places in the state today, one exploded without any human casualty while two disposed off by the personnel of the state police bomb squads.

Meanwhile, a personnel of the BRTF who has been struggling for life with bomb splinters injury since February 11 of this year succumbed to his injury today at Moreh community health centre today.

He the personnel identified as Jangkhopao Haokip (48) of Moreh Ward no.II died this afternoon, a report said.

One of the three bombs was hurled at the house of the elder brother of the state works minister, K Ranjit named K Ningthemjao at Keirak Tomal Makhongat around 6.30 am The bomb which failed explode was later disposed off by the police who rushed to the spot on time.

In the aftermath of the incident, residents of the area carried out a sit-in protest against the act of militants hurling bomb in the habitant area.

MLA U Deben also participated in the protest.

The other failed bomb attack was conducted at the house of the director of the Manipur Science and Technology Department, Laishram Utamchand at around 8.30 am.The third bomb was exploded at a place located between the fencing wall of the Langol View and RIMS Hospital today at around 11.10 am.
