Imphal, July 13 2009: Wife of the deceased contractor Krishnadas today identified the woman who took away Rs 25 lakhs as ransom amount for safe released of her husband during a Test Identification (IT) Parade at Shajiwa jail, official report said.

The TI parade was conducted as per order of the court in the presence of an executive magistrate appointed by the district magistrate, Imphal.

As per court's order and rules, nine persons including seven persons lodging in the jail after police arrested them on the charge of involvement in the murder of the Yengkhom Krishnadas after abducted from his home in the month of June were paraded before the wife of the deceased contractor, Bimola alias Ibemcha today.

The two persons among the nine were persons who are not related with the case in any way, the source said.

Bimola pointed out Seram Ashalata (39) wife of Ramchandra of Sayang Konthoujam Leikai as the woman who has taken Rs 25 lakh from her before her husbands dead body recovered on the next day of handing over the money, the source said.

Mention may be made that Yengkhom Krishnadas, special contractor was kidnapped by some miscreants from the house of his wife's parental home at Thangmeiband Khondram Selungba Leikai on June 10 night and found murder in a brutal manner on June 12 morning.

The TI parade was conducted today as per directive of the chief judicial magistrate, Imphal on July 4 at Shajiwa jail.

Ashalata who has been alleged of taking the money from some women including wife of the contractor on the evening of June 11 at a place at Tera bazaar was arrested by the police on June 13 after the dead body of Krishnadas was recovered.

She has been detained in judicial custody after police registered a case under FIR no.188(6)2009 under section 364/368-A/307/457/302/120-B of IPC, 25 (1-B) Armed Act and 16-20 UA (P) Amendment Act at Imphal police station.
