KSO call off Sadar hills bandh

Imphal, May 05 2009: The Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) has relaxed the bandh it announced earlier regarding the killing of a police constable by unidentified miscreants in Churachandpur district on Sunday, as per a memorandum of understanding signed between the representatives of the KSO and the state government authority today.

The KSO representatives have been assured of ex-gratia payment, appointment of next of kin in government service, and steps to check the recurrence of such incidents in future by the government authority during a meeting of the KSO representatives and government authority led by the Chief Minister, PHED Minister, MTDC Chairman and PDA Chairman today at the CM's office hamber, according to the MoU signed by Seiboi Haokip, KSO representative and PK Singh, Secretary to CM, on behalf of the government.

As such, the KSO has agreed not to resort to any agitation and to accept the dead body of the deceased, it added.

It may be mentioned that the KSO is threatening to launch agitations in connection with the killing of a police constable, Mangminlun Lhungdim, posted at the Churachandpur Police station by unknown gunmen at Molnom Cemetery in Churachandpur on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the KSO representative Seiboi Haokip also conveys gratitude to PHED Minister TN Haokip, MTDC Chairman Manga Vaiphei and Chief Minister O Ibobi for considering the demands of the KSO seriously.
