Imphal, April 02 2009: Miscreants suspected to be underground activists exploded a bomb at the gate of one Okram Megha (53) son of late Nodia housing together with elder brother O Meina at Okram Chuthek under Irilbung police station in Imphal east last night at around 10.15 pm.

Decrying the bomb explosion to the house of the special contractor Megha, residents mostly womenfolk of Okram Chuthek staged a sit-in protest today at the locality.

Family source said that none of the underground organizations served money demand from the special contractor of the state PHED.

So, family could not establish which group was behind the bomb attack.

Around 200 womenfolk took part in the sit-in protest carried out against the bomb attack which was organized jointly by the Chanurasingi Yaipha Thourang Lup, Okram Chuthek, Human Right Protection Women Welfare Association, Pabiya Pandit Leikai, The Kitna Panung Women Welfare Association and Wangkhei Loumanbi Kitna Panung Mayai Leikai Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Association.

Protestors are condemning the explosion of bomb in the populated area.

If it was a handy work of underground outfits struggling for justice and for the welfare of the people, they should make public clarification on the motive behind the attack which caused panic to the people.
