Imphal, October 23 2009: Two underground suspects were killed in a reported encounter with Imphal West district police commandos tonight around 8.25 at a place in Kameng Yengaobung under Lamshang police station in Imphal West district.

According to report, the encounter between the Imphal West district Police commandos - comprising a unit of the district commandos posted in Imphal and that of a team attached to Sekmai Police station - and the suspected undergrounds took place for a round two minutes which resulted in the death of two underground suspects.

One .32 pistol and three live rounds, a Chinese made hand grenade, and a red colour RX-100 Yamaha motorbike bearing registration No MNE-1709 were recovered from the possession of the slain UG suspects, according to the report.

The report said the two suspected UGs were involved in the causing an explosion at the residence of a Land Records and Settlement department Officer this evening.

Family members and others were said to have identified the motorbike recovered from the slain UGs as the same bike used by the miscreants.

Source from RIMS hospital said that the two dead bodies have been deposited at RIMS morgue later by the Lamshang Police.

However, the identities of the two slain cadres could not be ascertained immediately.
