Hunger strike and Lamps lighted

Imphal, June 21 2009: The relay hunger strike launched by the Sharmila Kanba Lup has completed 164 days of hunger strike on Sunday.

Around 100 members of the Takyel Gram Panchayat Ward No 6, Moirang Hanuba Leirak have participated in today's hunger strike at PDA Complex, Porompat.

The strike has been launched since December 10 last year as a part of Save Sharmila Campaign and to demand the repeal of AFSPA from Manipur by the SKL.

The Sharmila Khongjang Yaipha Thouni Lup today evening lighted lamps at the venue of the relay hunger strike organized by Sharmila Kanba Lup at PDA Complex, Porompat to express solidarity and support to the indefinite hunger strike by Irom Chanu Sharmila in demand to repeal AFSPA 1958.Earlier, the organization also prayed at the sacred places of Kangla to bless Sharmila and give success to her stir.
