Body Identified, family says surrenderee

Imphal, June 20 2009: The man killed by the personnel of the Thoubal police commandos on June 18 at Hayen Loubung in Thoubal district has been identified today.

Family said that the man is staying at the camp of the 21 Assam Rifles at Pallel after he surrendered as PULF activist.

The man was identified as Wahidur Rehman (22) son of Adil of Urup Kangpokpi in Imphal east.

Acording to the family, the slain man was a former PULF activist surrendered and has stayed at the Pallel camp of the 21 Assam Rifles.

He was rounded up by the police commandos from his wife's parental home on June 18 and later informed the family of killing in encounter.

When he was picked up he wore a towel but at RIMS morgue, he was found wearing combat dress and also wearing a shoe.
