Imphal, June 19 2009: Police searched for any hidden or hurled bomb inside and outside the office building of Sangai Express daily at Sega Road Thouda Bhabhok Leikai here tonight, but did not find any.

The search was made following a phone call at the office of Poknapham that a bomb had been lobbed at the office of the Sangai Express and such bomb attacks will be launched at other newspaper offices as well.

A joint meeting of the editors and AMWJU held tonight has strongly condemned the threat of some armed militants who phoned up some newspapers' offices here and said that a bomb has been hurled at the Sangai Express building.

A man who identified himself as Taiwan of Task Force of PULF had told some newspapers' offices on phone this evening that a bomb had been hurled at the office building of Sangai Express and other newspapers' offices will also be attacked with bombs.

Another person who identified himself as one Khamba Luwang of KCP had asked the offices of newspaper on phone this morning why the press release issued by them was not published.

One completely new outfit of which name has never been heard before had issued a press release a few days back.

The press release was not published by any of the media sections in Manipur.

Today's threat was obviously related with this.

Because of the threat the mediapersons are unable to work freely and without fear.

Therefore the joint meeting of editors and AMWJU earnestly appealed to the government to create an atmosphere for those working in the various mediahouses conducive to normal functioning.
