Imphal, July 18 2009: The Superintendent of Police, Bishnupur district has claimed to have arrested a man involved in the killing of the driver of an Executive Engineer of the LDA on July 15 last.

Producing the arrested culprit before media persons today, the SP identified the arrested man as Laishram Shyamchandra @ Bishorejit@Shyam (30), son of L Samungou of Ngaikhong Khunou.

A 9mm pistol along with three live rounds has been recovered from his possession.

The arrested man was said to be the Bishnupur district finance in-charge of the KCP (MC) Lamyanba Khuman.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the publicity secretary of KCP claimed that the driver of EE O Ibopishak was killed in a retaliatory/self defence fire by its cadres when LDA employees chased them while going to the LDA office in connection with the monetary demand served by the outfit.

At the same time, the outfit has also denied having any link with W.BK@ Bike Meitei, who the Imphal East police commandos and the 28AR claimed to have arrested.
